2nd Model : Naginata

Japanese Women Samurai
Medieval Japan: 1185-1600

The Naginata character has been named by the weapon she's holding. The naginata is a pole weapon that is situated in the Japanese blades category. Naginata's were originally used by samurai's of feudal Japan, as well as by foot soldiers and warrior monks but mainly it was the iconic weapon of the Japanese female nobility. O-naginata was the form of blade used by male warriors in general and ko-naginata was the style of blade used by women.

The workflow of the Naginata character starts with the rigging in Zbrush of the standard female character provided by Zbrush. Zspheres were used in order to get the skeleton/rigging.
Objects that require sharper edges or certain shapes in general have been made in Maya and then imported in Zbrush to provide them with bigger density of topology in order to achieve details such as scratches or leather texture for example.
